Carl Cox & Lynn Cosgrave - Sands Ibiza (Summer Season 2011)

Our good friends Carl Cox, Jason Bull and Lynn Cosgrave appear to be taking over Ibiza this summer season... Good Luck and Big Love from LSD Magazine....

Global DJ Carl Cox and Safehouse Management owner Lynn Cosgrave join Jason Bull as managing partners of the popular Sands Beach Restaurant on Ibiza’s Playa D’en Bossa beach S.O.S. (a.k.a. Sands on Sabados) Opening Party on Saturday, July 2nd!

(London / Ibiza June 2011) Global DJ Carl Cox and Lynn Cosgrave of London’s Safehouse Management have just announced their buy in as managing partners of the Sands Beach Restaurant on Ibiza’s Playa D’en Bossa beach almost directly opposite of Space Ibiza and footsteps away from the new Ushuaia Beach Hotel. The cosmopolitan duo are both self-avowed foodies and have been regular Sands guests since its launch in 2009. Jason Bull, Max Leverett and Jeremy Bussey will continue as Partners at the beach club and Japanese nightlife brand A-life, who recently hosted Carl Cox at their Big Beach Festival in Tokyo, will continue to add their expertise. According to Lynn and Jason, Sands Ibiza will remain the in-place for island visitors wanting to share the sun with their favorite DJs while savoring mouthwatering Asian Fusion, Balearic-inspired seafare, unique, inspired Japanese cuisine and, reputedly, the island’s best burgers.

Sands Ibiza

Keeping the spirit alive Sands Partner, Jason Bull, a 20-year island veteran who also owns the Base Bar and the Hotel Es Vive, says it’s the attention to detail and the personal care of guests that has earned Sands Ibiza its good reputation thus far. Asked how the beach club will evolve under the new partnership, Jason says: "Sands Ibiza has always been evolving. But when three very well travelled, comprehensive partners focus their energy on a small venue in Ibiza – they are bound to create something amazing." According to Lynn of Safehouse Management, Carl and her have been looking for a bar to buy into for a long time and Sands Ibiza fit the bill perfectly: "It’s close to Space and we have always loved the beach, the good vibes and the people at Sands. So when we found out it was being sold, we decided to step in and make sure it didn’t fall into the wrong hands." Lynn says their vision for Sands includes wanting to create a place where the international DJs who play on the island feel comfortable in the daytime. "They need somewhere to go where they have a family of folks to take care of them. The Ibiza music culture grew out of the fact that you could see all the best DJs just hanging out on the beach," she says. "We want to help bring that spirit back." Carl, who has held regular summer sessions at Sands for the last two years, will continue to do his funk, soul & jazz sessions over the 2011 season. And other worldclass DJs will also be popping by to surprise guests with cool and different beachside mixes. Says Lynn: "Sands is going to be a regular hangout for Carl and me and for all the DJs who play at Space so it’s a good place to come and have lunch and be part of the energy."

Dine and dance on the white sands of Playa d’en Bossa

It may be the Balearic beach vibe, the mesmerising chill music or the chance to rub shoulders with dance music royalty that initially draws people to Sands Ibiza. But it’s the restaurant’s amazing food and luscious cocktails that keeps guests coming back time and again. Exquisite sushi rolls and delicate Asian delights from Japanese chef Yuli Miura and his team. Or the savory mix of classic beach cuisine including seared tuna steak, mouth-watering fish and chips and tender burgers served up by Argentinian chef Luciano Scardaccione. All of which can be delivered to your private sun bed. Lynn and Carl are not about to mess with a good thing, but it’s no secret that Carl is a closet chef and Lynn’s husband is Andy Needham, head chef of Michelin-starred Zafferano, the well known Italian restaurant in Knightsbridge in London. According to Lynn, Andy will be doing a guest weekend at Sands this summer and she could imagine inviting internationally renown chefs to do guest spots on a regular basis. Djs on tour, chefs on tour: Sands Ibiza will be serving it up all summer.
