Gamma Proforma’s GP2011 @ XOYO London 19th August

Exploring duality in Art & Music, Gamma Proforma’s GP2011 events feature three distinct UK artists with a common thread, they operate on Dual Channels. Three events at XOYO London during August/September 2011. Each event launches a set of Giclee prints and a soundtrack album by the featured artist. The artists will be in attendance and will perform works at the events.The first 30 attendees at each event will receive a limited edition artist’s pack that includes a signed Giclee print and hand made soundtrack. Support from DJ’s Noel Watson & Nate Thompson plus guests.

Part 1. The Art & Sounds of Elph – 6.30pm, Friday 19th August 2011 @ XOYO London

Elph’s art is in a world of it’s own, literally. A man with an eye for style, his quirky cool female characters occupy the hazy streets & substations of planet Elph. His Pilot Nishiko sound works are derived from his paintings, transcribing patterns and strokes to midi signals. The results are hypnotic, serene and flowing with that same atmos that drips off the page...

The Faith of Graffiti - Madrid Crew Strike Back

Our friends in Madrid are currently engaged on a pasting a mission...Others are calling it an 'International Street Art Conspiracy'

Translation;

'The Pope is in Madrid. And thousands of young people around the world have invaded the capital of my kingdom.  Ana Botella Crew welcomes Ratzinger with this urban intervention entitled "The Faith of Graffiti" in which we pasted-up today 12-as the apostles- poster in different spots downtown Madrid.  God & Graffiti bless you'

Who the Hell are the Ana Botella Crew?

Ana Botella is the wife of the former Spanish President José María Aznar, the one who started the Iraq War alongside Bush and Blair. Currently she is also in charge of the department of the Environment in the City of Madrid.  And it´s quite ridiculous because her husband is one of the most prominent Spanish neocons arguing publicly that the weather change, and the environmental crisis are not real. He has been organizing master lectures at universities talking about the weather change conspiracy ,and adding that all this thing is a fake created by a new communism!

Ana Botella follows this trend, and at the local level has carried the disdain for environmental practices to her own department at City Hall and has expanded this repressive policies to include social and cultural practices. She is also a member of the right religious organization called OPUS DEI (The right of the right in the Holy F**king Catholic Church) She said that GRAFFITI is not an ART, and that Madrid spends 6 millions per year erasing graffiti, demagogically concluding that "with this money, we could have built 6 hospitals" She declared the war against graffiti saying that Graffiti is not an art and that she´ll destroy it.

A couple of years ago, we started an answer… For all these reasons, and as a reaction to the stupid letter that she sent to every madrilian with her signature arguing among her measures for "integral cleaning of the city"  that all graffiti was going to be removed, we had the idea of doing this open action using her own medicine! In fact, with so many politicians proposing recently to use municipal money to hire forensic graphologist to identify taggers and other street artist, we though it would be a nice touch to use her own signature in this project. And that action became really popular in Spain and also in other countries.

Welcome to this International Street Art Conspiracy!

Banksy Style Stencils Inspire New Zealand Police

Real life is much stranger than fiction and none more so than the latest series of recruitment ads for, yes you guessed it, New Zealand Police. Yes that's right folks, a man originally wanted in numerous countries for every Graffiti related crime yet written is the main source of inspiration for the recent Ad Campaign. Ironically New Zealand has a zero tolerant attitude to graffiti and the man featured running in one of the pieces could well be Banksy or any other artist painting walls. All said and done we personally applaud the ingenuity of street art concepts designed to bring a sense of balance to our cities. We're still debating whether this will inspire the next generation of stencil artists or new young bucks into law enforcement. We do know that street art graffiti will never quietly go away regardless of whether local governments declare war against all artists other than Banksy (which we have no issue with its not Banksy fault) this is a lifestyle...
