Smug is a Glasgow based artist specialising in characters and photo-realistic graffiti.  Since discovering graffiti 15 years ago Smug's work quickly grew into a perfectionist's obsession with heavy line work, letters and characters which has developed into a more photo-realistic style that has been exhibited widely.  Smug's paintings are meticulously rendered works which draw upon an eclectic range of influences, often making uncomfortable subjects into stunning pieces on canvas and in industrial and abandoned settings.

Graffiti Writer 'Req' says Dont Panic!

SOUTH EAST - Come on Down!

Born in London in 1966 Req is a Brighton based artist schooled in the New York subway graffiti tradition. His graffiti career started in 1984 in Brighton's derelict areas but he soon started painting internationally onstage with the Norman Cook band Beats International.  Req had a brief musical career with the release of four albums of low key hip hop instrumentals on Skint and Warp records. His other notable musical partnership was as producer and beat maker for Yorkshire artist and rapper Kid Acne.  Req's new work is defined by his attempt to purge the graffiti and graphic influences of his past in favour of a lighter, diffuse impressionism which he calls 'Spraypaint Realism'. His more recent charcoal and spraypaint works on paper provide a quick and more expressive outlet to balance the more intensive 'Spraypaint Realism' style.

Aerosol Artist 'Ventsa' says Dont Panic!

Ventsa is an illustrator and aerosol artist and member of the FOURPENCE collective. He has been specialising in spray can art for over a decade and applies his finely tuned graffiti skills to create surreal scenes where technical perspectives meet playful illustration.

His passion for typography and the visual aesthetic extends from the wall to the gallery, designing graphic solutions in a wide range of mediums. As a freelance artist his work can be found in both client and self initiated projects in digital, print, canvas, mural and clothing form across the UK and Europe.

Graffiti Writer 'RMER 1' says Dont Panic!

Rmer 1 AKA Bradley Woods, is an aerosol artist and graphic designer.

Rmer has been drawing on walls from an early age. He first set his sights on graffiti in the mid 80s and immediately knew this is what he wanted to do. By the dawn of the 90s he was starting to use spray cans to produce his art and in 1999, along with local Cardiff writers Hoxe, Skroe, Foe and Dyes he started his website Cruel Vapours.

Rmer's skills are best seen in his characters and realistic abstract photo work. Over the past decade Rmer and Cruel Vapours have had their art featured in many international publications and painted/exhibited in countries such as Holland, France, Ireland, the US and Australia.

Rmer now runs a graffiti art/graphic design studio called illustrate project in Cardiff, specialising in commercial mural commissions and youth/community art projects throughout the UK.

Street Artist Cheba says Dont Panic!

Cheba has been producing what most label today as 'Street Art' since the early 2000s.

A young pioneer of the modern poster and sticker culture, Cheba began plastering the streets with his striking yet simple characters using every media he could get his hands on. He has appeared in such publications as 'Graffiti World', 'The Art of Rebellion', 'Children of the Can' and 'Banksy's Bristol' to name a few, all of which received worldwide distribution.

Cheba has gone on to showcase his work at numerous exhibitions over the world both solo and jointly with illustrious figures from the world of street art including the ‘Crimes of Passion’ show at the Royal West Academy of Arts.

As the man behind Weapon of Choice and the Bristol Festival, Cheba snapped up Venue magazine’s Banana Award for the top artist of 2008.

SER - Old Skool Graffiti Writer says Dont Panic!

Legendary graffiti artist SER aka Darren Cullen hails from South London and began his graffiti career way back in 1983, pioneering UK street art ever since.

Working outwards from London, he began a systematic campaign to get his work out across every major transport system in the UK. However, there comes a point in every graffiti artist's career when their success becomes of increasing interest to the police and local authorities.

This spurred SER into forming the Graffiti Kings, the UK's first professional graffiti art company and graffiti artist agency. He has worked with companies ranging from Kiss to Reebok, and Sony Playstation to the BBC.
